Creatives Unlimited

Lovely looking, albeit confusing to use portfolio site from those young Swedish bucks at Hyper Island. Nice demonstration of what one can do with full-screen video (or rather, what their lecturers can do).

Forkd

A couple of blokes i used to work with have come up with this site. It's all 2.0ish and about food and recipes and ting.

Love the idea, and the fact that it's in 'Feta' made me laugh a lot. And i'm looking forward to seeing how all of the recipes connect together and fork out again - interesting.

Got to say though, the visual design is pretty damn ropey.

Find it a forkd.com - naturally.

Glistening Helmets

I'm not a biker, and as such I've never really had a massive hard-on for crash helmets. That is until i saw this little lot from Les Ateliers Ruby.

I think i might get one. For wearing around the flat and frightening the cats. Frightening them in kick-ass style mind!

Last Exit To Harleston

This is a page from The Harleston Grapevine, a local rural newsletter from my boss's village in Norfolk.

For some reason it kind of reminded me of Herbert Selby Jr's style of writing, albeit a daft bucolic version of it.

For the uninitiated, he wrote Last Exit To Brooklyn and Requiem for a Dream. His style of dialogue was phonetic and frenetic - and completely mind-blowing.

If you haven't read them you should.

Below is an passage from Last Exit. It doesn't really demonstrate the style i'm talking about but it does give you an idea of what you're getting into when you read his work.

" They formed a circle and kicked. He tried to roll over on his stomach and cover his face with his arms, but as he got to his side he was kicked in the groin and stomped on the ear and he screamed, cried, started pleading then just cried as a foot cracked his mouth, Ya fuckin cottonpickin punk, and a hard kick in the ribs turned him slightly and he tried to raise himself on one knee and someone took a short step forward and kicked him in the solarplexus and he fell on his side, his knees up, arms folded across his abdomen, gasping for air and the blood in his mouth gurgled as he tried to scream, rolled down his chin then spumed forth as he vomited violently and someone stomped his face into the pool of vomit and the blood whirled slightly in arcs and a few bubbles gurgled in the puke as he panted and gasped and their shoes thudded into the shiteatingbastards kidneys and ribs and he groaned and his head rolled in the puke breaking the arching patterns of blood and he gasped as a kick broke his nose then coughed and retched as his gasping sucked some of the vomit back in his mouth and he cried and tried to yell but it was muffled by the pool and the guys yells and Freddy kicked him in the temple and the yellowbastards eyes rolled back and his head lolled for a moment and he passed out and his head splashed and thumped to the ground ..."

Harsh, harsh, harsh.

Pants 2.0

Great new take on ecom, a medium that's, lets face it, getting a bit tired. Knicker Picker has an online dressing room with real models, they'll even come closer and turn around for you.

Mark Lawrenson has tourette's? Shaun Wright-Phillips.

I was watching the footy last night and astoundingly moribund commentator Mark Lawrenson said the following :

"Well he's done all the hard work, brought it down on his chest and made the pass, for me.
Shaun Wright-Phillips".

And i thought, what a strange way to organise a sentence. It must be an affect of having to think and speak quickly, as is the skill required for a dynamic and interesting sports narrator.

Not likely with Lawrenson.

So then i thought, perhaps he has some sort of tourette's that makes him say
Shaun Wright-Phillips involuntarily at the end of random sentences.

How cool would that be?

Just a thought.
Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Music for the masses

Now everyone can be a EuroTechno Beatmaster

Bert & Ernie go all Doomcore

Types of animal

I don't know enough about design to understand the intricacies of what makes a good typeface or not, but i am a complete natureboy with a degree in Zoology - so this work from Jeremy Pettis really appealed.

Sexy ladies with massive boobs in the nude doing stuff to men and other sexy ladies

This blog doesn't have a large readership. It's mainly made up of friends and sympathisers. In fact, as i'm sure happens with other two-bit websites, an awful lot of my traffic comes from misdirected search queries.

A really cool thing about having a blog though is the stats. I use statcounter and it's quite fascinating how people arrive at my green & pleasant land.

For instance at the top of my Keyword Analysis list is the term Ghetto Grannies. I posted something fairly innocuous under this title a little while ago about a tartan shopping trolly that has been converted into a fat (Phat) speaker.

The reason it's at the top of my keyword list however is because of this...

as one reviewer puts it "its hard to find M.I.L.F dvds where the ladys are NOT playing up to the cameras.i can reccommed this dvd series to anyone looking for that RAW feel to the action."

I guess it is if you keep ending up here by mistake.

Other gems in the list are people looking for;

Sex Girt
Big Stick Sex
She's going to get you from behind
Naked Grannies
Stick Sinker
Felcher Photo
Unusual Cocks

Excellent stuff and god bless the porno industry.

Hence the title of this post - well one has to get the traffic somehow, doesn't one?

If you can sit, you can get fit

Mydeco

I worked for lastminute.com for about 3 1/2 years back in the day. And a wonderful experience with wonderful people and an inspiring management team it was too (i left just before it went all crappy and corporate). Back then, before, during and after the bursting of the bubble, it was a bit like a youth club - lots of snogging, pseudoscandels and alcohol.

Happy Days.

This new venture from Brent (i think Martha is on the board but not involved in the day-to-day) looks altogether more mature than those times of eHedonism.

Mydeco.com is Mr Hoberman's latest venture and i think it's rather good. I know a few of the people on the team and must admit i was wondering how they'd pull it off.

The 3D is slick, the flash is quick and as a new homeowner i think this service could be really useful.

Music Club - A Club for Gentlemen

For a little over a year now, five friends and i have been attending our own music club. After many years of going to gigs (a lot of gigs) together, we decided this activity should be supplemented with a monthly meeting to basically sit around drinking tea and coffee and listening to music. We're all in our thirties and have impeccable taste in music.

It's very good and we've just had our 15th Saturday just gone.

This is what we listened to this month:

Le Loup - The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millenium General Assembly
Port O'Brien - Various but mainly The wind and the Swell
Bon Iver - Record not out yet but was ripped by Jase from some dodgy Russian site (and is most awesome)
Alberta Cross - The thief and the heartbreaker
Lightspeed Champion - Can't remember the LP but it was ace.
Avett Brothers - A second airing of Emotionalism & Four Thieves Gone
Black Mountain - In The Future
Herbaliser

Old Crow Medicine Show
Dillard & Clark
Marisa Nadler

You should try them all.

For those that are bothered, i'll let you know what we listened to next month too.
